Union Agriculture Ministry 10 September को farmer leaders के साथ fake और substandard seeds के खिलाफ मजबूत legal framework पर चर्चा करने वाली है. Consultation शाम 4 बजे scheduled है, इसलिए दिन में उससे पहले published coverage में इसे completed meeting नहीं बल्कि planned consultation कहा जाना चाहिए.
Seed quality high-stakes regulatory issue है क्योंकि farmers germination, varietal purity और disease-resistance claims पर भरोसा करके seasonal investment करते हैं. Poor-quality या counterfeit seed पूरा crop cycle नुकसान पहुंचा सकता है और sowing के बाद remedy करना मुश्किल होता है.
