Science and Technology Ministry steel-slag road technology की wider adoption push कर रहा है, जब Raigarh, Chhattisgarh की 1.85-km road को processed steel-slag aggregates से बनी world's longest road का Guinness record मिला.
Government के अनुसार technology suitable applications में construction cost करीब 40% reduce कर सकती है और conventional roads की तुलना में up to four times strength दे सकती है, साथ ही major maintenance intervals extend कर सकती है.
Bigger policy idea circular infrastructure है. Steel slag industrial by-product है, इसलिए road aggregate के रूप में इसका use waste और virgin stone demand कम कर सकता है. लेकिन cost और durability claims engineering conditions तथा wider replication पर depend करेंगे.
