Existing rules manufacturers को Schedule H, H1 और X drugs का advertisement Central Government की prior sanction के बिना करने से रोकते हैं। Proposed sub-rule Rule 65 के तहत इस restriction को उन licence holders तक बढ़ाएगा जो medicines sell, stock, exhibit, offer for sale या distribute करते हैं, including retail और wholesale licence holders।
Public-health rationale unauthorised promotion और inappropriate self-medication का risk कम करना है। Advertising restriction medicines regulation का केवल एक हिस्सा है; prescription practice, pharmacy compliance, pharmacovigilance और public awareness भी safe use को प्रभावित करते हैं।
