The World Circular Economy Forum 2026 opened in Gandhinagar under the theme 'Circular Economy: Transition for People and Prosperity'. The event runs from September 15 to 18 and brings together governments, industry and experts.
The core idea of a circular economy is to reduce extraction of new materials by extending product life, improving repair and reuse, recovering materials and designing waste out of production systems.
For India, this is not only an environmental agenda. It affects urban waste management, industrial competitiveness, critical-material security and jobs in repair, recycling and remanufacturing.
