Reuters के अनुसार VinFast ने भारत में VF3, VF6 और VF7 की local manufacturing योजनाएं रोक दी हैं और suppliers से संबंधित development work रोकने को कहा है, जबकि कंपनी लागत का दोबारा आकलन कर रही है।
VF6 और VF7 अभी भारत में imported kits से assemble होते हैं। Assembly से deeper localisation पर जाना कठिन है: parts को एक साथ price, quality और volume targets पूरा करने होते हैं और suppliers को भरोसा चाहिए कि भविष्य की demand tooling तथा development cost को justify करेगी।
VinFast का कहना है कि वह भारत के लिए committed है और market-specific products पर अध्ययन जारी रखे हुए है। इसलिए यह भारत से exit नहीं, बल्कि एक localisation plan पर pause है।
यह मामला याद दिलाता है कि भारत का EV opportunity बड़ा है, लेकिन local manufacturing की economics हर model के लिए अलग से काम करनी पड़ती है। Factory announcement उस calculation की शुरुआत है, अंत नहीं।
