Indian Coast Guard ने 8 अक्टूबर को Odisha के Paradip coast के पास 12th National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise, SAREX-2026 आयोजित किया। Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, shipping और port authorities, fisheries, customs, marine police तथा Odisha administration इसमें शामिल थे। 30 देशों से 32 observers भी उपस्थित रहे।
Theme search-and-rescue preparedness और maritime safety को technology से strengthen करना था। Exercise में complex distress situations simulate की गईं, जिनमें maritime और aeronautical agencies का coordination जरूरी था।
Search and rescue operational के साथ governance challenge भी है। Response time distress-alert systems, communications, asset availability और inter-agency command clarity पर निर्भर करता है।
UPSC के लिए SAREX disaster management, maritime governance और inter-agency coordination का case study है। Exercise preparedness दिखाता है, future risk के समाप्त होने का प्रमाण नहीं।
