Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) ने बताया कि महाराष्ट्र में तीन operations के दौरान elephant ivory articles, leopard skin, दो live pangolins, tiger bones और tiger canines जब्त किए गए। 11 लोगों को apprehend किया गया।
Wildlife trafficking केवल conservation offence नहीं है; यह organised crime और customs enforcement का मुद्दा भी हो सकता है। वन्यजीव और उनके derivatives राज्य तथा राष्ट्रीय सीमाओं के पार informal networks से जा सकते हैं, इसलिए forest departments, police, customs और financial investigation agencies के बीच coordination जरूरी होता है।
जब्त सामग्री में ऐसे species शामिल हैं जिन्हें भारतीय wildlife law और international trade controls के तहत उच्च संरक्षण मिलता है। हालांकि seizure के बाद भी chain of custody, species identification, criminal responsibility और network links की जांच जरूरी है।
