India and the United States are conducting the 22nd Yudh Abhyas military exercise at Auli in Uttarakhand and Mahajan in Rajasthan, the Defence Ministry said.
The opening ceremony took place at Auli on September 15. Each army has contributed 600 personnel.
Training focuses on coordinated infantry operations in mountainous terrain, alongside the use of drones and autonomous reconnaissance systems. Weapons demonstrations are planned at Mahajan.
The exercise is intended to improve joint planning and operational coordination. Those are training objectives; the ministry's announcement does not establish measured improvements in combat capability.
