UP has raised Anganwadi honoraria and added ₹5 lakh health cover

The state also plans wider smartphone use and real-time data systems in Anganwadi centres.

Uttar Pradesh has announced higher monthly honoraria for Anganwadi workers and helpers, taking them to ₹12,000 and ₹6,000 respectively, along with cashless medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh a year for workers, helpers and their families. The state also plans to make Anganwadi centres more digitally enabled.

The policy relevance is frontline-state capacity. Anganwadi workers are central to nutrition, early childhood care and maternal-child services, yet their workload, compensation and employment status have long been debated. Digital tools can improve monitoring, but they work only when staffing, training and basic service delivery are strong.
