UIDAI has introduced a new software development kit and sandbox environment for Aadhaar face authentication, allowing authorised entities to integrate the service more directly into native mobile applications. The update is aimed at improving developer access while retaining liveness and anti-spoofing controls.
Face authentication is distinct from facial recognition in an open crowd. In Aadhaar authentication, a live face is matched within a defined identity-verification workflow rather than searched against an unrestricted population database. That distinction matters for both technology and privacy analysis.
