The Department of School Education and Literacy organised a nationwide screening of a 30-minute sensitisation and orientation module on inclusive education through the PRASHAST Portal on 8 October. More than 60,000 schools participated, while the ministry said over 72 lakh teachers had already been sensitised through related efforts.

The module is aimed at building a whole-school approach to inclusion for Children with Special Needs (CwSN). It uses practical examples to help teachers, special educators and non-teaching staff understand accessibility, respectful interaction and support requirements.

Sensitisation is necessary but not sufficient. Inclusive education also depends on accessible school infrastructure, appropriate learning materials, special educators, assistive technology, classroom accommodations and reliable identification and referral systems.

For civil-services preparation, PRASHAST connects the right to education with disability inclusion and administrative implementation. Participation numbers measure outreach; the stronger outcome test is whether children with disabilities can enrol, learn, participate and progress without avoidable barriers.
