Indian equities moved higher on September 30 after two sessions of losses. Reuters reported that the Nifty 50 gained about 0.2% while the Sensex rose about 0.5% in late-morning trade.
Information-technology stocks were the strongest major sector, while small- and mid-cap indices also advanced. The rebound came after the benchmark indices had fallen about 1.8% over the previous two sessions.
The recovery did not remove the larger pressure on Indian markets. Foreign investors have continued to sell Indian equities, while high oil prices and global bond yields remain important external risks for valuations and capital flows.
