Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched and laid foundation stones for projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara on September 8. Beyond the completed Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, the package includes three railway projects spanning 329 km worth more than ₹9,700 crore and three National Highway projects costing around ₹1,780 crore.

The Jobat-Tanda Road line connects remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national rail network. Gujarat projects worth around ₹2,600 crore include a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, PMAY housing and a water-supply project for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.

UPSC relevance: GS III — infrastructure, renewable energy and regional development; GS II — welfare delivery. The package is a useful case study in combining logistics, connectivity and social infrastructure rather than treating projects in isolation.
