A Colombo Security Conclave table-top exercise concluded at Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam after three days of simulated maritime-security scenarios.

According to the Defence Ministry, participants worked through challenges including maritime terrorism, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The exercise also reviewed standard operating procedures and information-sharing arrangements for Maritime Domain Awareness.

The significance is regional. Indian Ocean security increasingly depends on cooperation against threats that do not fit neatly into conventional military categories and often cross multiple jurisdictions.
